Sinclair Community College's Completion by Design work has tackled all aspects of the Loss Momentum Framework, with major changes in student intake, academic advising, curriculum, developmental education and career exploration.
Sinclair focused initially on academic mapping which it had started previously and expanded it with CBD. It began expanding the use of electronic academic plans (known as MAPs) in 2012. Their data shows that students who meet with advisors and complete a MAP are 3.4 times more likely to persist fall to fall, and twice as likely to complete a creditial as those who did not. The college has seen a 27% increase in degrees and certificates awarded in the past three years. This article in the Detroit Free Press highlights these major changes.
